## Plans

All tiers are beta prices—subject to change once Latcher exits beta. Annual billing saves 17%.

## Credit Usage and Deduction

Credit consumption is dynamic based on the complexity and computational requirements of each interaction. Latcher automatically optimizes credit usage based on your request complexity. More intensive AI processing requires more credits, while lighter interactions consume fewer credits.

### How Credits Are Used

**High-Effort Generations (\~300-500 credits):**

* **Chapter Creation** - Comprehensive learning sessions with multimodal content
* **Complete Context Maps** - Complex visual knowledge graphs
* **In-Depth Research Reports** - Extensive analysis with multiple sources
* **Advanced Audio Brief Generation** - Studio-quality conversational content

**Standard and Light Interactions (\~10-100 credits):**

* **Topic Exploration** - Moderate-depth research and explanation
* **Contradictor Analysis** - Critical examination of assumptions
* **Chat Messages** - Standard conversational exchanges
* **Discovery Mode** - Quick explorations and clarifications
* **Simple Q\&A** - Direct questions and brief responses

## More information

### **New users**

* Plan assigned: **Latcher Free**
* **Starter credits:** 1,000 credits automatically added to your account
* **Usage:** Starter credits can be spent on any core Latcher feature

### Purchasing additional credits

* You can purchase extra credits **on any plan** at any time.
* Purchased credits are permanently added to your balance; they never expire or disappear.

> Balance before purchase: 1,000 credits
>
> Credits purchased: 1,900 credits
>
> **New balance:** 2,900 credits

### Upgrading your plan

* When you upgrade, the monthly credits that came with your previous plan are removed.
* Any credits you purchased separately stay on your account.
* The new plan’s monthly credits are added immediately.

>
> Balance before upgrade: 1,000 (Free) + 1,900 (Purchased) = 2,900 credits
>
> Upgrade to **Plus** → Free credits removed; add 3,900 (Plus)
>
> **New balance:** 5,800 credits (1,900 + 3900)

### Downgrading your plan

* Downgrades take effect **at the end of your current billing cycle**.
* Until then, you keep the higher-tier plan and all of its credits.
* The lower-tier plan—and its monthly credit allotment—begins on your next renewal date.
